IMPORTANT Information for ALL Certified Youth Sports Administrators (CYSAs)
The Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) credential is earned by successfully completing the Academy for Youth Sports Administrators Exam within the Online Academy.
Prior to taking the exam, candidates must either participate in an Onsite Academy and/or must review all materials that are available within the Online Academy Modules. Once a candidate satisfactorily completes all Modules, the CYSA credential is earned.
When a candidate earns the CYSA credential, it is valid for two years from the date when the last/final exam was graded. During that initial two-year period (called the Initial CYSA Cycle), the CYSA continues to have access to the Online Academy. This area of the Online Academy is called the CYSA Only Area. During the entire Initial CYSA Cycle, CYSAs are encouraged to continually log in to the CYSA Only Area to review information and participate in the CYSA Only Features that include the CYSA Forum, the CYSA Share Area, etc.
To maintain the CYSA credential (and extend the CYSA credential beyond the Initial CYSA Cycle), candidates must earn at least 10 hours of continuing education/professional development related to the field by the end of the initial two-year period. Continuing education MUST relate to the field of youth sports administration.
Upon completion of any continuing education, the CYSA must receive official, original documentation of participation containing the following information: your name, attendance date, title of course or program and contact hours. CYSAs must submit CEU documentation and CEU Processing Fees to NAYS for review prior to the end of the Initial CYSA Cycle.
These continuing educational units (CEUs) can be earned in a variety of ways:
CEU OPTION #1 – CYSAs can register and participate in the NAYS Youth Sports Congress that is held annually in conjunction with the AB Conference & Expo. CYSAs must register through NAYS and document attendance at a minimum of 10 hours of sessions during the event. The NAYS Congress registration fee includes any and all CEU fees. Attendance at the Youth Sports Congress allows CYSAs to not incur additional CEU Processing Fees.
CEU OPTION #2 – CYSAs can attend educational sessions at national, state or local levels that are related to the field of youth sports. Upon completion of these educational sessions, CYSAs must submit documentation and the CEU Processing Fee. The CEU Processing Fee is $10 for each documented hour of continuing education/professional development related to the field.
COMBINATION SAVING OPPORTUNITY – Sometimes CYSAs will earn/submit CEUs and also attend the NAYS Youth Sports Congress. CYSAs that attend the NAYS Congress that have paid for CEUs during that calendar year will receive a reduced registration by the amount of CEUs paid.
