Excellence in Youth Sports Award
Recognizing Outstanding Youth Sports Programs
The Excellence in Youth Sports Awards honor programs that are doing superior jobs of conducting diverse activities with a focus on providing safe and positive experiences for all participants -- including children, parents and coaches. Developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business magazine, the first Excellence in Youth Sports Awards were presented in 2000.

Who qualifies for judging?

Any organization that educates their administrators, volunteer coaches, game officials and parents qualifies. The organization must also demonstrate that they embrace a child-centered recreational sports philosophy that is aimed at providing a positive and safe experience for all youth.

How many annual awards are presented?

An Excellence Award Committee will select FIVE Communities as Excellence Award winners, as well as the individual NAYS Coach and Parent of the Year winners. An application that receives consideration for the final judging, but does not win an award will be acknowleged with an Honorable Mention. The 2008 Excellence in Youth Sports Awards will be presented at both the International Youth Sports Congress AND the Athletic Business Conference & Expo (conferences held in conjunction) in San Antonio, TX, December 3 - 6, 2008.

How are the winners chosen?

An Excellence Award Committee comprised of National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business staff will review applications and decide upon the recipients. A new two step process has been created for the 2008 Excellence Award program. Please click the "How to Apply" tab above for detailed information.
