Nationwide Insurance proud sponsor of Parent of the Year award

10/7/2015

The National Alliance for Youth Sports is pleased to announce Nationwide Insurance is continuing its long-standing support by sponsoring the 2015 Parents Association for Youth Sports (PAYS) Parent of the Year award.

Nationwide Insurance has been the proud sponsor of the prestigious Parent of the Year award since 2007.

The evidence that sports parents make a tremendous impact in youth sports programs across the country is made clear by the hundreds of Parent of the Year nominations received at NAYS headquarters every year.

Each nomination tells an admirable story of parents not only there to support their own child, but truly caring about the safety, development and overall experience of each child in their community that takes to the field, rink or court to participate.

“At Nationwide, we make a promise to our members to help them protect what matters most,” said Ann Ritterspach, AVP of Relationship Management at Nationwide. “As parents, what matters most is your children. Thank you for making a positive impact to your child's life through their participation in youth sports. These programs provide the perfect opportunity to teach our kids teamwork, sportsmanship, safety and respect.”

Through the PAYS program parents gain valuable insight on the best ways to provide positive support and encouragement to their young athlete. The program is hosted by well-known ESPN SportsCenter anchor Chris McKendry, the mother of two young athletes.

“Nationwide recognizes the positive impact parents make in the lives of their children and is proud to sponsor the National Alliance for Youth Sports' Parent of the Year Award,” Ritterspach said.

Parent of the Year nominations are reviewed for how well the nominee exemplifies the PAYS Parents Code of Ethics, founded on tenents like placing the emotional and physical well-being of children ahead of a personal desire to win, encouraging a playing environment of good sportsmanship and supporting the coaches and officials of the program.

The award winner and one guest will receive complimentary flight and accommodations to the Youth Sports Congress in New Orleans, La., from Nov. 18-21. The winner will be recognized at the special awards ceremony that is one of the signature events that takes place during the Congress.
