With an abundance of new technology available to "make life easier," choosing the best tools to use can be overwhelming. We have searched and found some great apps, tools and websites especially for youth sports coaches. Many are even totally free. Thanks to Jodi from Advisors Marketing, whose session at last year’s Youth Sports Congress inspired this post.
Team Roster and Schedule Management
TeamSnap Free plan and paid plans available to help you track players, game/event schedules and team payments, as well as email the entire team with one click.
Group Texting App
GroupMe Free app that works on nearly every phone that lets you send group texts to your players’ parents.
aMap.to Free service that lets you provide very specific location information to your players’ parents, down to which side of the field practice will be on.
Both of these are free photo sharing sites where you can upload practice and game pictures so your players’ parents can download copies.

ChalkTalk App Store Paid app that turns your iPad into a coach's tablet for devising plays and communicating with your players.
CoachPad App Store Paid app that allows you to sketch out and display formations and tactics all using your iPad. Templates for basketball, baseball, football, soccer, rugby, volleyball, tennis, ice hockey, field hockey, lacrosse (men's and women's) and even a blank whiteboard for any purpose.
Game Scoring and Statistic App
Game Changer Free scorekeeping and stat software for teams. Premium options available.
iScore Score and produce statistics for baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer. Paid app.
First Aid by American Red Cross App Store Google Play The American Red Cross has come out with a free First Aid app. This new app features simple step-by-step instructions to guide you through everyday first aid scenarios. This app is easy to use for coaches responding to injuries during practices or games. This app should be integrated into any coach's emergency action plan.

Online Coach Training Program $20
National Youth Sports Coaches Association Coaches complete a clinic which prepares them for their important role – everything from dealing with parents to specific sports drills to use at practice. After the initial clinic, coaches can access their Member Area all season long, which features a variety of tools and resources, including the Coach Rating System, Coaches Forum, a library of skills and drills, and more.
