Wanted: Your opinion on conducting a youth running program in your area

10/21/2010

The National Alliance for Youth Sports, as part of its ongoing efforts to provide positive programming for children, is developing a Running Program that prepares youngsters ages 8-13 to complete a 5K run. Additionally, the program features a character-building curriculum that covers key issues such as goal-setting, proper nutrition, self-esteem and respecting authority, among others.

NAYS would like this turn-key program to be run in your community to help fight childhood obesity – and it needs your help.

Please take a moment to fill out a quick questionnaire by clicking HERE so NAYS can gather valuable information to help make this program a nationwide success.
Why would you want to be a part of this?
  • Generate revenue: NAYS will charge a set amount per participant (approximately $25), who will receive a manual, t-shirt, etc.  Your community can charge any rate you would like - we suggest you charge a $60 registration fee to allow your organization to make $35 per participant.
  • Goodwill: With the current national focus on childhood obesity, this is a great way to get kids active AND equip them with the tools they need to stay physically and mentally healthy.
  • National ties: Your community will be included in a national movement we are spearheading towards challenging kids to make healthy choices. Your community will be featured on our national running website where your kids will see their hard work recognized alongside kids across the country.
  • Turn-key: Communities will be provided with a Coordinator Manual/Coach Handbook and each participant will receive a Participant Manual/Workbook that takes them through the 12-week training process.
  • Public image: This program appeals to all: media will love the concept, parents will love the character building & physical training and kids will have a BLAST!
