Social networking expert Hilary Bride will host a workshop at the upcoming Youth Sports Congress on how recreation departments can make use of such popular sites like Facebook and MySpace.
The Youth Sports Congress, a three-day educational seminar for recreation professionals held by the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) in conjunction with the Athletic Business Conference and Expo, will take place Dec. 2-5 in Orlando, Fla.
Bride’s workshop, “Networking Sites - What Youth Sports Administrators Need to Know,” will be held at the Orange County Convention Center on Dec. 3 at 11:30 a.m.
Her workshop will explore social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. She will examine the positive and negative aspects, discuss how such sites can strengthen relationships with participants, create marketing and communication opportunities and keep staff and participants accountable for their behavior.
Attendees will receive action plans for their administrative teams to provide awareness about social networking sites and program promotion. The workshop will also aim to identify three common themes used in Facebook or MySpace that can have a negative impact on your sports programs.
Bride is a second-year professional in municipal recreation at Moultonborough Recreation Department in New Hampshire and has seven years experience in campus recreation at James Madison University. She has a master’s degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development with a concentration in Leadership/Facilitation. An original user of Facebook in 2001, Bride is currently a consultant for individuals and organizations on the subject of Facebook.
