The Excellence Awards recognize special organizations worldwide that operate diverse youth sports programs that focus on providing positive and safe experiences for all participants. The Excellence in Youth Sports Awards are given annually by the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) and Athletic Business magazine.
“The National Alliance for Youth Sports joins Athletic Business in commending this year’s honorable mention recipients,” said Fred Engh, founder and president of NAYS. “These organizations are committed to providing quality youth sports experiences. They have also shown a strong understanding of the importance of training youth sports coaches, parents and administrators to help ensure that all children have a safe, fun and rewarding experience.”
Each community is unique, but all share a similar role as dedicated youth sports facilitators who strive to provide optimal youth sports experiences for the children in their community.
The 2009 Excellence in Youth Sports Awards were presented by Mitch Albom at the 2009 Youth Sports Congress in Orlando, Florida. Five winners were selected for their commitment to providing excellence in the field of youth sports. This year's winners were Andrews Air Force Base Youth Sports (Md.), Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (Calif.), Sasebo Youth Sports (Japan), Town of Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department (N.C.) and USAG West Point Youth Sports and Fitness (N.Y.).
The Congress is the preferred venue for all recreation professionals looking to stay abreast of all the latest trends and practices in youth sports.
