Format

There are 3 specific areas on which each team will be scored to determine the Traditions of Golf Challenge Champion: playing ability (four-person scramble), knowledge of golf’s rules and history (Traditions), and overall etiquette. Each participating community will divide their team into two separate foursomes. Each foursome will play 9 holes one day and caddie 9 holes the other day. Each day, the playing foursome will keep a traditional scramble score while the caddies will earn a birdie, par or bogey on each hole by answering questions on golf’s rules and history. Each team, coaches included, will be supervised by on-course officials to determine an etiquette score for each hole.

At the completion of 9 holes, each team will have 1) a nine hole playing score, 2) a nine hole “Traditions” score and 3) a nine hole etiquette score. These three totals will be added together to determine a team’s overall score for the day. The overall nine hole score from day 1 will then be combined with the score from day 2 to determine the Traditions of Golf Challenge Champion.
