The National Alliance for Youth Sports is aware that child abuse in sports is an extremely important topic for coaches and parents of young athletes, regardless of the age or gender of the players. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys are sexually abused before their 18th birthdays.
Because this is such an important subject, we have created optional protecting against abuse training courses for NAYS Coaches and NAYS Parents as a supplement to the information they received during their training.
This new program is completely free to any NAYS Coach and can be added to your existing membership.
This new program is completely free to any NAYS Parent and is available in your NAYS Parent Orientation account.
We also recommend you check out the missingkids.com, childhelp.org, cdc.gov/violenceprevention/childmaltreatment and d2l.org websites for further information regarding abuse in youth sports.
