7/12/2010
The deadline to submit applications for the 2010 Excellence in Youth Sports Awards is rapidly approaching, but it’s not too late to nominate your community for this prestigious award.
Applications for the 2010 Excellence in Youth Sports Awards will be accepted no later than Thursday, July 15.
The Excellence Awards honor programs that do superior jobs of conducting diverse activities with a focus on providing safe and positive experiences for all participants, including children, parents and coaches. Developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business magazine, the first Excellence in Youth Sports Awards were presented in 2000.
Applicants who are invited to complete the comprehensive Final Round Application will be notified by Aug. 1.
Winners receive a financial award and in-kind contributions from Excellence Award sponsors to use for the support and enhancement of their youth sports program; a custom award to display at their facility; national, state and local recognition, including in the publications of Athletic Business and the National Alliance for Youth Sports; a complimentary registration for this year’s Youth Sports Congress, which will be held Dec. 1-4 in San Diego, Calif.; plus more.
Up to five communities are annually recognized as Excellence Award winners. Applications that qualify for the final round of judging, but that do not win an award, receive Honorable Mention recognition.
The Excellence Award Committee, comprised of National Alliance for Youth Sports and Athletic Business staff, review applications. Applications are judged on several criteria, including what the organization does to educate their administrators, volunteer coaches, game officials and parents; as well as how well they demonstrate that they embrace a child-centered recreational sports philosophy that is aimed at providing a positive and safe experience for all youth.
