Learn to Lead Like a Pro in Youth Sports

Leaders in youth sports are often asked to take on all sorts of additional responsibilities that can affect kids’ confidence and development – though they aren’t always exposed to the necessary training to help make it happen.

At our upcoming 21^st annual Youth Sports Congress in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 16-19, Dr. Matthew Raidbard will be presenting a session called Learn to Lead Like a Pro in Youth Sports. 

During his session, attendees will learn how to:  

•Determine the best leadership style and behaviors to practice that aligns with your personal values and beliefs, as well as the organization’s mission. 

•Utilize specific leadership practices to de-escalate and resolve conflicts that arise in the youth sports environment, as well as which approaches to avoid.  

•Outline tools to critically assess your leadership practice and make adjustments to your own behaviors so you can achieve desired personal, professional and organizational goals. 

Dr. Raidbard spent 15 years as a men’s basketball coach and senior-level athletics administrator. His basketball coaching stints included Western New Mexico University, Dartmouth, Florida Gulf Coast and Chicago State.

He recently served at the University of Hartford as the Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration, Compliance and Student-Athlete Success.

He is the author of Lead Like A Pro: Effective Leadership Styles For Athletic Coaches and his current work focuses on providing administrators and coaches with the knowledge and tools to be more effective and intentional leaders. 

The Youth Sports Congress is a comprehensive educational experience designed specifically for youth sports administrators. The training allows attendees to participate in the Youth Sports Congress, the Athletic Business Show, and to maintain or earn their Certified Youth Sports Administrator credential, all at one location.
