NAYS Chapter of the Month: Mason City (Iowa) Recreation

For the youth sports program staff at Mason City (Iowa) Recreation, being a National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Chapter gives them access to exclusive features in the Chapter Management section at, allowing them to streamline volunteer coach management so they can tend to other matters in running a youth sports program.

“I love the online certification program,” said Penny Bennett, program coordinator at Mason City Recreation. Bennett explains that in the past her staff would have to hold two to three clinics for each sport. Now, with the NYSCA Online Clinic, they offer one live clinic per sport and refer coaches that can’t attend the clinic to complete their training online.

“All we need to do is mention that they can go online and get trained and they are more cooperative and supportive of the training process,” she said.

One of the things I like most about NAYS: “View/Update Members” and “Rate Your Coach” tools in Chapter Management

The National Alliance for Youth Sports aims to make the sports experience, safe, fun and healthy for all children. We want to promote the value of youth sports to officials, coaches, parents and volunteer administrators alike. Our Chapters play the major role in this mission.
