The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS), as part of its ongoing efforts to provide volunteer coaches worldwide with the best information to have a positive impact on all their young athletes, is pleased to unveil its new Coaching Youth Sports training video.

Hosted by long-time ESPN sportscaster Karl Ravech, the roughly 90-minute program features a wealth of tips and information for volunteer coaches of all sports and age levels.

It’s available for coaches to complete online from home at their convenience, as well as onsite for those recreation agencies offering the program in a classroom setting.

Some of the biggest and most respected names in the professional and collegiate coaching ranks shared their wisdom and expertise.

Featured in the training are Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina’s Roy Williams, Rutgers’ Vivian Stringer, St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo, Dallas Stars head coach Ken Hitchcock, Chicago Bears head coach John Fox, Minnesota Wild coach Bruce Boudreau, and many more.

“We’re thrilled that these extraordinary coaches appreciate the valuable role volunteer coaches play in the lives of children and were willing to share their incredible insight,” said John Engh, executive director of NAYS. “As we embark on our 36th year as the leading advocate for the power of sports in children’s lives, we look forward to volunteer coaches worldwide using this training to enhance their skills and becoming that special coach that kids love playing for and learning from.”

The training covers what it means to be a volunteer coach, planning and running quality practices, handling game day and the many issues that accompany it, first aid and safety, nutrition and hydration, and much more.

Leading sports psychologists, athletic trainers and a top nutritionist also lend their expertise in the training.

Coaches who complete the NAYS training receive a $1,000,000 excess liability insurance policy, corporate discounts on everyday services like car rentals and hotels, and a monthly e-newsletter filled with coaching tips.

Plus, NAYS members have access to several FREE online trainings created by NAYS, such as Bullying Prevention, Concussion Prevention, Coaching Kids with Mental Health Challenges and Protecting Against Abuse.
