Recreation professionals in Missouri on way to earning CYSA credential

Seventeen recreation professionals in Missouri are on their way to becoming Certified Youth Sports Administrators (CYSA) – and joining more than 6,600 worldwide who have earned this industry recognized certification – after taking part in a special session at the Missouri Park & Recreation Association (MPRA) state conference.

The annual conference took place this week in Lake of the Ozarks.

Through the National Alliance for Youth Sports’ partnership with MPRA, attendees participated in a special Academy for Youth Sports Administrators prep session conducted by Lisa Licata, Senior Director of Youth Sports Administrators at NAYS. The interactive session focused on a variety of topics that are essential to the execution of positive youth sports, as well as the leadership role that youth sports administrators play in their local communities.

“It was great to connect with these dedicated recreation professionals who are so passionate about providing the best programs possible for youth in their communities,” Licata said. “We look forward to them becoming CYSAs this spring.”

During the next two months these professionals will complete the certification process via the Online Academy for Youth Sports Administrators training to earn the CYSA credential. The Online Academy is a professional development foundations course that bolsters recreation professionals’ knowledge in many key areas associated with running high-quality youth sports programming.

The internet-based training program includes dynamic content, video presentations, downloadable resources, and more. Topics covered include youth sports philosophy; policies and procedures; child abuse and bullying prevention; parent and volunteer management; safety and risk management; program marketing; and more.
