More than 40 recreation staff members throughout Missouri completed the National Alliance for Youth Sports’ Frontline Staff Training last week during a special virtual event that took place as part of the Missouri Park and Recreation Association’s Customer Service Workshop.

The session was hosted by MPRA’s Region 2 led by Joey Wilmes, recreation supervisor at Columbia Parks and Recreation and a Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA).

“It was great to see so many dedicated recreation staff take part in the Frontline Staff Training because they truly are the face of organizations, interacting and communicating with the general public on a daily basis,” Wilmes said.

The NAYS Frontline Staff Training is designed for any recreation staff member (full-time, part-time, summer, seasonal, or new hire).

“Frontline Youth Sports Staff are in direct contact with the public and therefore are an extension of the organization’s leadership,” said Lisa Licata, Senior Director of Professional Administrators for NAYS, who presented the training.

The training includes an introduction to youth sports administration, navigating interactions with youth sports parents and participants, promoting sportsmanship, being well-versed in a variety of safety issues, and being aware of what resources are available to help ensure high-quality sports experiences for all involved, among other areas.

The Frontline Staff Training has received rave reviews around the country, including in Arizona, North Carolina, Maryland, and Florida. For information on having your staff trained please email stafftraining@nays.org for group rates or after-hours options.
