Concussions in sports are an extremely important issue for coaches of young athletes no matter the sport. The Sports Concussion Institute estimates that between 5-10% of ALL athletes will experience a concussion during a given season and those numbers increase for contact sports such as football and soccer.
Because this is such an important subject, the National Alliance for Youth Sports offers a concussion training course as a supplement to the information members received in their NAYS Coach Training. This program is completely free to NAYS Coaches.
This supplemental training program for NAYS Members is designed to provide coaches with valuable information on bullying. Bullying awareness and prevention is an important issue in youth sports today as it affects the health and well-being of children participating in all sports, and at all levels.
The Protecting Against Abuse Training provides members with valuable information on protecting themselves and their athletes during activities, as well as dealing with abuse and its many forms when it does occur. Child abuse is an important issue that affects the health and well-being of children participating in all sports, and at all age ranges and levels.
The National Alliance for Youth Sports is aware that mental health challenges are an extremely sensitive topic for coaches and parents of young athletes, regardless of the age or gender of the players. This training was developed to help coaches better understand children who are dealing with disorders such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity (ADHD), Tourette syndrome, depression and many others.
The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) has teamed with Simon's Heart, a nonprofit organization that raises awareness about conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death in children. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the U.S., taking the lives of more than 350,000 people each year. It is also the number one killer of student athletes. Statistics like these are the reason that NAYS has sought further heart health training for members.
In the NAYS Coach member account, coaches have access to Safety, Health and Injury Awareness information. Sections include First Aid & CPR, Steroids, Sports Injuries, Lightning Safety, Nutrition & Hydration, and more.
NAYS Coaches may log in to their member account to access the Safety, Health and Injury Awareness materials.
NAYS Select Coach is an online training program developed to assist coaches of travel and advanced-level teams. The clinic delivers an e-learning experience in eight key topic areas.
